New Year News from Kris Maze in 2024

Happy New Year, Kris Maze Readers!

My hope is that this year is full of fun and intrigue as you dive into mysterious worlds of sci-fi and explore the limits of possibility. I have many exciting new updates for you this month and books news to share. Read further to find my latest releases, new books to be published soon, upcoming author talks, and fun nature inspiration.

Nature is Neat

I often walk to destress and reset my mind. It helps to focus on the little things that continuously work, behind the scenes, making a marvel of life and the complexities we can sometimes take for granted. It helps alleviate minor worries and gets my mind racing, like this little guy I happened across. See video below. By the time I return, I’m ready to write.

During one of my latest walks, I noticed a field of disintegrating mushrooms, their floppy tops melty and misshaped. Now there’s a horror-sci-fi story in the making…

These stems were sinewy and the tops, knobby, sticking up from the beneath the earth, giving them an appearance of arm bones of corpses.

Take a look at these photos from that hike. Which do you prefer? Color or black and white? What creepy things do you see?
